Interesting Story

Below is another picture from my latest trip to Yosemite. It’s Tanaya Lake and the granite domes surrounding it.

While taking the photo at a specific turnout, other people started to pull into the turnout to take in the view too. Most of them were taking pictures, just like me, and standing in awe and silence.

The next thing I knew I heard someone shout really loud. I turned and looked over and the guy who had shouted was looking down a shear cliff. I thought, “Oh, someone didn’t just go over the edge…” Sure enough, someone did! A guy fell about 10 to 15 feet down a rocky area and was sitting up, covered in a good amount of blood. His son and friend managed to get him back up to the road and had him sitting in their SUV. I ran and got my first aid kit and helped out. The guy who had fallen was pretty shaken up and had a nasty gash on the top of his head. Luckily he didn’t break anything and was pretty alert.

After cleaning him up a little and calming him down, the three of them decided to head out toward Tuolumne Meadows, where there’s a ranger station. They all thanked me for assisting them and off they went.

By this time it was pretty late in the day, so I decided to head out to Tuolumne to see if the guy was ok. The SUV wasn’t there so I headed toward the east entrance of the park. As I pulled up to the gate, there were the three of them with a ranger who was checking the guy for any signs of trauma. They were all joking and seemed relaxed, so that was a relief to me. I then headed back into the park for a little while longer to watch the sunset in the area. It’s always nice to do that.

On a side note, I’ve updated my Black & White gallery with some new images. The last six were from my recent trip, as well as the second one in the first row. I’ll be doing more updates in the weeks to come, including a new slideshow on the main page.

Have a great week everyone!
