During my last trip to Lassen and Yosemite it rained quite a bit. It also snowed in the higher elevations, but luckily I was able to do most things before the snow closed the roads.
I did a five mile hike in the rain around the south end of Yosemite. The first four miles had gentle rain, but during the last mile it came down really hard! I was drenched by the time I got back to the cabin…but it felt amazing! The money in my wallet was also soaked!
Below is a picture of the south fork of the Merced River after the rain. When I first arrived in Yosemite, this part of the river had very little water in it. After it rained for a couple of days the river was almost completely filled and roaring loudly.
The second photo is of upper Yosemite Falls taken from Taft Point. The rain helped recharge the falls and it was nice to see it so active in autumn.
Have a great week everyone!
