Yes, you’ve guessed it. I’m going back to Mammoth and Yosemite sometime in May. However, there’s a possibility that Tioga Pass may not be open when I go. The higher elevation received so much snow this last winter, it’s hard to say if the roads will be plowed in time. It was almost a 200% snow year!

Below is a photo I took in 2012 at Pothole Dome in Tuolumne Meadows. This was actually taken in October of that year and I don’t suspect there will be snow in that area in May. However, around the east entrance of the park, there’ll probably be a good amount of snow and Tioga Lake could have ice in it! Keeping my fingers crossed for getting up there.

If I do get up Tioga Pass, I’ll have the opportunity to do some astrophotography. I’ve been wanting to take more pictures of the Milky Way since last years photos didn’t turn out that good. At that time, I was taking photos which were south facing and Fresno was giving off too much light pollution. Who knew you could see that much light from 10,000 feet?! I’ll definitely be taking photos that are more east facing.
