I went to see the film Dunkirk this weekend. It ended up being a very well put together film. While it is based on the situations that happened at Dunkirk during World War II, all the characters were fictitious. I was kind of hoping there would be some characters in the film based on real people and the struggles they went through. Either way, the film is worth a view. If you do plan to see it, try and catch it in XD or in 70 mm projection. The reason for that is because the cinematography is outstanding and the film was shot in 70 mm Panavision. If you see it in basic 35 mm digital, I think it may lose some of it’s intensity.
Speaking of World War II, while on my last trip to the Eastern Sierra, I stopped by Manzanar, the Japanese interment camp during the war, just north of Lone Pine. There is so much history there and it really should be a stop you make if you are ever in the area. The museum and grounds are incredible. I still can’t believe the people who were interned there were treated so bad.
Below are three picture I took while visiting Manzanar. I thought the black and white look brought more life to the images.
Have a great week everyone!
