When I arrived in Mammoth on the first day of my trip, I saw some signs that said the road going down to Reds Meadow was going to close for the season the next day at 12 pm. With that in mind, I decided to wake up really early and do a couple of sunrise hikes around Devils Postpile and Raindow Falls. I spent the entire morning down in the area and it was well worth it.

Below are two photos I took with a new wide angle lens I recently purchased. The first is of the entire basalt columns of Devils Postpile. The other is of Rainbow Falls from the upper rim. Unfortunately I couldn’t make it down to the lower part of the falls; it was closed off for restoration of the trail.
