During my last trip to Yosemite, I woke up early one morning and hiked to Middle and Upper Gaylor Lakes. As an added extra, I hiked up to the abandoned Great Sierra Mine, which is up a small trail from Upper Gaylor Lake. The mine is at an elevation of about 11,000 ft and has some really nice views of the surrounding areas.
Below is a photo I took of one of the structures still standing at the mine site. I didn’t stay long up there because as I started taking photos, a large dark cloud was forming overhead and I wasn’t sure if a snow or rain storm was on the way. The weather can change pretty quickly in the fall season up at that elevation, so I played it safe and started to make my way down early.
Have a great week everyone!
