I’m about to make another trip to Yosemite in the next couple of weeks. It was hard to tell if I was going to have to cancel my trip since the government shutdown was still looming until Wednesday last week. I would’ve been able to get into the park because I was going to stay in a private residence and not part of the parks main lodging facilities, but there would’ve been no hiking or stopping anywhere along the roads. I’m happy to report that the government finally resolved their issues and reopened the park, so all is good now and I’m looking forward to lots of great hikes.
Fall in Yosemite is a photographers dream come true. The colors, especially in the Easter Sierra Nevada, are really incredible this time of year and from what I’ve seen on Michael Frye’s blog in the last week, this year is going to be really beautiful. If you live in California, I really urge you to pack up your car and take one or two or even three days to explore the area. You won’t be disappointed.
One hike I haven’t done in Yosemite is to an area called Artist Point. It’s actually very close to Tunnel View and from what I’ve read it’s more photogenic. I’m surprised I haven’t done the hike before, but there are a lot of other hikes I haven’t done…and I’ve been to the park more than twenty times in my life! I’ve recently purchased a new camera and will be testing it out while on the trip. I’ll post new photos on my website as well as on the blog when I get back from Yosemite. When I do the blog entry I’ll explain which camera I used and all the great things it does. From what I’ve read online, the camera is pretty amazing.
