New Year, New Ideas, New Trips, And Revisiting The Past

This is the first year in a long time that I haven’t had any solid plans as to what I want to do in the coming months. I need to start thinking of trips to some new national parks as well as revisiting old ones. Lassen Volcanic is a definite idea! I miss that place too much.

Putting together a photo project for the year is one priority. Something to do with nature is obvious…but what it’s going to be is still a bit of a question. Trees? Landscape? An animal??? I’ll keep thinking as I’m sure something will come to me.

I recently read a photography blog that said revisiting images in your catalog from the past is a good start. I looked back at 2011 and found images from my first trip to the Trail of 100 Giants in Sequoia National Forest. It was a great visit because I went right after the first snowfall of the fall season and I was the only person there! Tranquil and quiet was the atmosphere. Below is an image I took that morning.

If you look toward the second bridge in the distance in the image, there is some orange netting. The netting was there to corner off an area of the trail where one of the large sequoias had recently fallen. Sad to see a large tree on the ground like that, but it’s part of the cycle of life. Life is always evolving…as I need to with new adventures in the future…

Have a great week everyone!
