Stopping At Sequoia Before Going To Yosemite

I’ll be spending a couple of days at Sequoia National Park in October before I head up to Yosemite. I’m currently mapping out what trails to do.

Last fall I hiked Crescent Meadows which is always a great hike to do. However, this time around, I probably won’t be hiking the meadow.

Below is an image of Tharp’s Log which is along the trail around Crescent Meadows. Hale Tharp, the first settler in the sequoia area, built the cabin out of a fallen sequoia tree back in 1861. One of Tharp’s visitors to the cabin in 1875 was John Muir. I wonder what it must have been like in that area in the mid 1800s. There would have been no paved roads and practically no people in the area. Sounds like paradise! 🙂

Have a great week everyone!
