I’ve recently been watching videos that photographer David duChemin has created and have learned quite a bit about composition and style in photography.
In one of the video segments, David mentioned that the best ways to learn about photography is to study the work of the masters. So, with that in mind, I decided to drive to my local bookstore and look at some photography books.
One book that I really enjoyed and highly recommend other photographers to look at is called “Icons of Photography: The 20th Century.” This book has a number of familiar photographers including Ansel Adams, Elliot Porter, Helmut Newton, and Henri Cartier-Bresson.
I’ve noticed some reviews of this book have been on the negative side because all highly regarded photographers aren’t included. What you have to remember about this book is that it isn’t meant to show ALL great photographers in the world; it shows a selected group of them.
