PCH Makeover

Driving up the coast from Ventura to Santa Barbara is so relaxing, even when there is traffic. You get the beautiful ocean view to look at and it makes the drive worth the effort, whether it’s for work or play.

On one morning commute to work, I stopped and took some pictures of the new bike path that was constructed along highway 101. The new portion extends from the north end of Pacific Coast Highway (HWY 1) near Rincon Beach, all the way up past La Conchita and then on to Carpinteria.

While I like the new bike path, I’m beginning to wonder if there are too many changes happening to that area. They have added extra lanes to the 101 freeway, but making other changes, such as new parking areas for beach goers, may bring extra traffic down to the small beach communities that don’t necessarily want it. Change is always good, but sometimes it’s better to start small and work your way up instead of all at once.

Below is a photo of a seagull checking out the railing of the new bike path. I have to admit, the bike path looks amazing and is already getting some really good use by the locals. They seem to really like it.

Have a great week everyone!
