I Got A Rock

I was going through some photos in my archives and came across the one below. It’s a picture of rocks that surround the railroad tracks in an area near Santa Barbara. What made me take a photo of the rocks? I think it was the different textures and colors each rock had in the combination.

It also brought to mind a favorite holiday cartoon that comes on television this time of year. How many of you remember “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”? If you remember anything about that show, you’ll remember the kids going door to door in their neighborhood on Halloween night saying, “Trick or Treat!” and having a treat thrown into their little bags. They would then stand in a circle and compare what each person received. It kind of went something like this:

Kid #1: I got five pieces of candy!
Kid #2: I got a chocolate bar!
Kid #3: I got a quarter!
Charlie Brown: I got a rock…

Why did Charlie Brown get a rock? If you don’t know the answer to that, you’ll have to look it up and find out. Or even better yet, rent or buy “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”. That cartoon is definitely a classic and shouldn’t be missed!

Well, I’m off to Yosemite this next week. I’m looking forward to getting in some great hiking and photography. I hear that the fall colors in the Eastern Sierras are peaking, so hopefully I’ll get over in that direction sometime during the trip.

Have a great week everyone!
