It was great getting back to Yosemite and doing more photography and hiking. The six days up there went too fast, but I was still able to do a lot.
One hike I did ended much too soon because of safety reasons. Half of the hike was on trail and the other half off. The trail part of the hike went great, but going off trail ended up being very difficult. The brush in the forest was really thick and hard to maneuver around. A machete would’ve helped, but you can’t really use one in a National Park. I decided to try to hike inside a creek since the water levels were very low, but found myself slipping on the granite planks because they were covered with ice from the temperatures dropping so low the night before. The signs were all there to not go any further, so I played it safe and returned to the trail. The hike was definitely worth a try; nothing ventured, nothing gained.
As far as photography goes, I did get some great shots. I’ll be posting them as soon as possible and also update my slideshow on the front page of the website.
Below is a photo of a granite plaque on one of the cabins in the area where I stayed. It’s one of the more elaborate cabins (cost millions to build), but the plaque on it really has a great message. It sums up all the reasons why I return to Yosemite again and again.
Have a great week everyone!
