Updates To Galleries

I’ve been busy working on my galleries and preparing a new slideshow for the home page. It’s been kind of difficult deciding what to do and which photos to display, so there may be changes here and there over the next couple of months.

I’ve added a new gallery to my website: Black & White. I’ve wanted to do that for a while, but wasn’t sure which photos to use. This last trip to Yosemite helped finalize which photos would be in that gallery.

The picture at the far right, in the Black & White gallery, was taken at Tunnel View. I originally took the photo for color processing, but after working with it in Lightroom, it was clearly obvious that it had to be done in black and white. I wanted the clouds to be more threatening looking and the black and white version did just that.

Another image in the new gallery (second from the left) is of Convict Lake in the Eastern Sierras. It was the first stop I took on my latest trip up to Yosemite. The color version was kind of bland, but I liked the way the black and white version brought out the texture of the hillsides around the lake. Since the fall colors had peaked the week before in that area and there wasn’t much color to work with, black and white definitely improved the photo a lot.

The Yosemite Gallery has some new additions and removals. I’ll be making some other changes to it soon, but I need to go through more photos before the final edit is done.

As far as my photo book projects go, there wasn’t as much progress as I had hoped for. I did get some good photos, but I really need to do more research before continuing with both of them.

Below is another version of the Convict lake photo. When I first processed the image as black and white, the lake ended up having a blue tint to it. I kind of like this version more, but it didn’t fit in the Black & White gallery because the color was distracting.

Have a great week everyone!
