Reminisce About Christmases Of Past

I spent part of this weekend baby sitting my eight year old niece (as well as two very hyper Siberian Huskies) and took time out to reflect on Christmases of past.

One thing that came to mind were the Christmas tree ornaments that have been on the family tree over the years. I remember when my sister and I were really young, we came across some very interesting ornaments that didn’t make it to the tree each year. They were ornaments that had been on my parent’s tree when they were just married and starting a life together in downtown Los Angeles, in an area that was considered very progressive and modern. The funny thing was that the color of all the lights and ornaments were pink! I thought, “Ok, what’s this all about?” Turns out that pink was a very hip and cool color for that time period and my parents would get a flocked white tree and deck it out with all pink decorations. Well, I guess that could be nice, but it’s not something I’d do. It’s funny how times change and so do fads.

My niece and I attempted to make Christmas cookies this weekend that ended up being a complete disaster. The mix wasn’t working for us and my sister, when she came home from the event she had attended that night, couldn’t figure it out either. We had followed the instructions to the “T”, but it was just some silly mix that was destined for the trash can. My sister said it was the first time she had purchased that box of cookie mix, so she wasn’t sure what to expect. At least it smelled good (peppermint cookies). I’m marking this down as another fun event of Christmases past.

Is there anything that brings back holiday memories for you? Take the time each year and reflect on some of the great moments of holidays past that bring a smile to you and your family.

Have a great week everyone!
