Recently I decided to invest in a new electronic gadget: the iPad. I wasn’t sure if I was going to benefit from having one, but after using it for a short time, I began to realize I should’ve bought one a long time ago.
I’d often seen a lot of photographers pulling iPads out of their camera bags in documentary and educational videos and always thought, “Why do they need that? Isn’t a camera enough?”
Well, it seems there’s a lot a photographer can benefit from by using an iPad. For one, you can now adjust images on an iPad using the Lightroom App. The App doesn’t do all the post processing work, but it can sometimes save time on the processing work flow and give the photographer an idea of what the final image will look like.
Another App, created by Olympus, which I have been able to use with my E-M1, can control your camera remotely. This can come in handy if you take pictures of animals in the wild and need to set up the camera in a discreet location. The App also provides live view on the iPad, the same as on the back of the camera. The aperture, shutter speed, exposure level, and white balance can be changed remotely as well using the App.
Quickly sharing your photos online through social media or creating a photography portfolio to view on the iPad are two other possibilities that this amazing little device can deliver.
So far the iPad has been a very creative tool for me. I’m looking forward to using it on future trips and also around home. To see the iPad I use, click on the following link: http://www.apple.com/ipad-mini-3/
Have a great week everyone!
