A Hidden Treasure

One of my New Years Resolutions is to clean out closets and storage areas in my apartment. I’ve been wanting to do that for a long time because I know that there is a lot of things I’ve accumulated over time that I really don’t need.

While going through one storage area, I came across a bag that had a book in it. I pulled the book out and I was very happy and surprised to see what it was. The book is a collection of pictures by various photographers including Annie Leibovitz, Robert Mapplethorpe, David Bailey, Herb Ritts, and Andy Warhol. The title of the book is Visual Aid and was created to benefit lifesaving programs in Africa and America through U.S.A for Africa.

The photos in Visual Aid are really amazing. If you want to see artists at very early stages in their lives, check out this book that has really young photos of Molly Ringwald, Steven Spielberg, Sting, Richard Gere, Madonna and Sean Penn (together), David Bowie, and many more.

Below is a picture of the cover of the book. It was published in 1986 by Pantheon (Random House). Check your local library or online book sellers if you want to get a copy of it. If you like celebrity portraits, this is a must see!

Have a great week everyone!
