A Photography Exhibit You Should Not Miss

If you live in or can get to the Los Angeles area in the next six months, there is one photography exhibit you should not miss; it’s called The Power of Photography: National Geographic 125 Years. The exhibit is currently open at the Annenberg Space for Photography and will close on April 27, 2014.

Today I drove down to the Annenberg and checked it out. I can definitely say it’s really impressive. The space shows a 28 minute documentary on the National Geographic photographers exhibited and also shows a six minute introduction on how they re-configured the space for the exhibit. There are multiple pictures printed and hung and walls wrapped in graphics, but what’s really incredible is that most of the exhibit is shown on large flat panel monitors which change the images every 35 seconds. There are also two Microsoft Surface Tables which are touch screen where you can sift through all the images manually. All together there are 501 images in the entire exhibit. Expect to spend more time than usual at the Annenberg if you’ve been there before (probably over two hours if you want to take in most of the photos and see the video documentaries).

For more information on the exhibit including days, times, and directions, please visit the Annenberg’s website at: www.annenbergspaceforphotography.org .
