Cloudy Days And Snow

There always seems to be too much sunshine in Southern California. I tend to like cloudy, rainy, cooler days. When those days do come along, I’m at my best and happier. Strange that a darker day can make someone happy.

There were a couple of days this last week that were really cloudy and made the coastline look so amazing. So, on my way to work on Thursday, I stop along the beach and took a few photos. Below is one of that photos from that morning; it really represents what I like on cloudy days.

In the meantime, the Eastern Sierras received a good amount of snow during the weekend. Most of the snow arrived yesterday and it turned Yosemite and Mammoth Mountain into a late winter wonderland. I’m sure the skiers in Mammoth were enjoying it.

Since there has been so much late snow this year, the National Park Service hasn’t started plowing Tioga Pass (HWY 120), which runs through the higher elevation of Yosemite. They usually start plowing the pass around April 15th, but so far nothing has been done. Last year the road opened around the first week of May, but this year it may not open until after Memorial day (May 25th). I think there may be a little snow left over when I get up there in early June and should make hiking a little more of a challenge on some trails…but I’ll love it!

Have a great week everyone!
