Different Photo Opportunities While In The Eastern Sierra Nevada

When I was on my trip and commuting from Mammoth to Yosemite on a daily basis, I noticed a lot of different photo opportunities along highway 395. One that really pulled me in was the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains with the thunderstorm clouds overhead. I thought that the clouds and the open landscape would make a really great shot, but then I noticed something really great: two abandoned homes that were just sitting off the highway.

I pulled off the highway and walked across to a wired fence and checked out both homes. The smallest home really seemed to have more personality, so I took a number of shots of it with the mountains and clouds overhead. I began to think that it would probably look better as a high contrast black and white photo, so when I imported the images into Lightroom I made both a color and black and white copy. Below are a couple of the images I’ve been working on. I may make some alterations to them, but so far I like what I’ve created.

Also, in my previous blog posting, I’ve updated the nightscape photograph. I’m still trying to get used to processing images of night skies, so I may post different versions of it in the future.

Have a great week everyone!
