Fourth Day In Glacier National Park

The fourth day in the park I was up early and left the Many Glacier area at 5am and headed up to Logan Pass.

When I got to the parking area at Logan Pass, it was about 5:45am and the parking was almost 50% filled! I still can’t believe that many people were already there…then again, it is the trailhead for a couple of great trails, so I guess it makes sense.

I had already done part of the Highline trail on Friday, so the hike to Hidden Lake was planned. It was foggy and cloudy that morning at the pass, so I waited a little while for it to clear before heading up to the trailhead behind the visitors center. Below is an image I took up at the pass while waiting to start the hike.

So, guess what? The trail to Hidden Lake was closed. A grizzly bear was sited in the area and they usually close the trail to Hidden Lake because of grizzly bear activity.  At this point I decided to get into my car and drive back toward Saint Mary and do some hiking around Sunrift Gorge and Baring Falls. Below are a couple of images of Baring Falls.

After a short lunch break, I headed up the Going To The Sun Road and did some site seeing. Below is an image of a view from the road. Really amazing views along the road!

Later that afternoon I checked into lodging at the Apgar Village, had dinner, and enjoyed a nice sunset along Lake McDonald. Below are a couple of images from that evening.

Yellowstone and the Grand Teton coming soon to a blog entry! 🙂

Have a great week everyone!
