Everyone knows I love Yosemite, so when the National Geographic film Free Solo came out, I was excited to see the park from completely different angles.
For those of you who don’t know about this movie, Free Solo is about a rock climber named Alex Honnold who climbed El Capitan in Yosemite without ropes or gear. The cinematography in the film is absolutely amazing! It was so good I’ve seen it seven times in the theater. Yes, seven times. 🙂 I also own it on video now.
The film took home the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature at the Academy Awards this year (congrats to the directors E. Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin!!!)
If you have the opportunity to see it in the theater, please do! This film looks best on a BIG screen.
