High Country Scenery

One thing I like to do when I visit Yosemite is go up to the high country and look for small areas that are not normally visited by people. One such area is along Tioga Pass, just east of Tuolumne Meadows. It’s the Dana Fork of the Tuolumne River.

There really isn’t a parking area for this area; you just have to find a good place to pull over, which is usually not paved, but still smooth enough for an easy exit from the highway. The Dana Fork runs parallel with Tioga Pass and everyone usually gets excited when they see it because it’s really quite beautiful. Most people aren’t adventurous enough to pull off the highway in a small unpaved turnout, but for those who do, the reward is completely worth it.

Below is a picture I took on my last trip. I used one of my new filters to slow the river flow in the photo. The photo was taken around 4pm in the afternoon, which to me is the best time of the day to be along the Dana Fork.

I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday weekend and had some good food. I know I ate enough!

Have a great week everyone!
