Lightroom For Mobile Devices

It looks like Adobe is planning to release a Lightroom app for mobile devices very soon. I’ve checked a couple of blogs and websites and they’ve mentioned that Adobe plans on launching the app in the near future.

The app would make it possible to edit photos on the go just as you would with Lightroom on a computer (ie exposure, clarity, shadows, highlights, and white balance.) The app is supposed to be a companion to the Lightroom software and most likely will be cloud-based. I’m still not comfortable with the idea of doing my photo editing with a cloud-based subscription, so it may be a no go for me until it is available for a stand-alone software service. Hopefully Adobe will make it available for both.

From what articles I’ve been reading online regarding cloud-based subscriptions for photo editing, a growing number of photographers are responding quite negatively to the idea. Being locked down on a subscription can be difficult for a photographer on a budget and with the fairly recent breach of client information on the Adobe site, I’m not sure a cloud-based software is going to be the wave of the future for them. People are getting a little more concerned about identity theft and what seems to be the best way to protect information is to give out less of it over the internet. Let’s see where the future of the cloud takes us…

On a side note, I’ve finally created a webpage in my galleries for videos and timelapse. I’ve also uploaded my first timelapse video of a sunset. You may notice some black marks flickering in the sky; those black marks are birds. I couldn’t figure it out until I looked at each frame individually. Feel free to check out the video by clicking here.
