Since I went to Glacier National Park in 2018, I’ve wanted to return to Upper Grinnell Lake really bad! Below is an image I took while up at the lake last time. Talk about amazing! I’m hoping there is still ice in the lake this year. It’s hard to say if there’ll be any ice due to it being a super hot summer.
Also, with Covid still alive and well in the U.S., I don’t know for sure if I’m going up to Grinnell Glacier this time around. I have boat reservations to take me across Swiftcurrent Lake and Lake Josephine to cut some miles off the hike, but I may have to do the whole hike without the boats; four extra miles to be exact. I really don’t want to get on a boat with a ton of people, so we’ll see.
Hiking to the Glacier or not, I’m still looking forward to a great time in the park. This will be my first time driving the entire Going to the Sun road. Last time I couldn’t drive it from Logan’s Pass to the Apgar area on the west side. There was road construction and the smoldering remains of a fire a month earlier, which kept that part of the road closed to all vehicle except shuttle buses. I did take a shuttle bus just to see the road, but no stops were made, so that wasn’t much fun. This time around, TONS OF STOPS! 🙂
Have a great week everyone!
