I spent most of Saturday going to a couple of museums. The first exhibit I went to see was the latest at the Annenberg Space for Photography called “Life: A Journey Through Time.” The exhibit displays images taken by National Geographic photographer Frans Lanting and shows the evolution of life on earth, from the Big Bang to today. More than seventy of Mr. Lanting’s images are on display along with a timeline of life on our planet. I found the exhibit to be both informative and inspiring. Downloading the Annenberg app to your phone or mobile device will allow you to follow the audio tour which includes extra information on the images. If you get a chance, check it out before March 20th.
If there is one exhibit that nobody should miss, it’s the next one I went to. It’s being shown at the Skirball Cultural Center and is called “Manzanar: The Wartime Photographs of Ansel Adams.” Talk about amazing! This exhibit shows photos of the treatment of Japanese Americans at the Manzanar relocation camp during World War II. The exhibit also includes documents, videos, and a copy of Mr. Adams book “Born Free and Equal.” Photos by Dorthea Lange taken at Manzanar are also included in the exhibit. This is a traveling exhibit and the last day at the Skirball is on February 21st. I know that’s just one week left, but if you live near the Los Angeles area, I urge you to see this exhibit. As I said earlier, this is a MUST SEE! Below are links to the websites with the exhibit information along with locations and dates of where it can be seen.
