Welcome to the New Year everyone! This should be a great year for photography and travel. I’m not sure what my destination is going to be in the Fall of 2015, but I’m sure it will be an amazing adventure.
First choice is Mt. Rainer and Mt. St. Helens. If that happens, I’d also like to go up to Olympic National Park. Looking at that kind of schedule, I’d think I’d need to be there for about two weeks. This is going to take some planning if it’s going to happen.
My second choice, and at this point the easiest one to plan, is the Redwood Coast up above Eureka, California. I’ve seen some great photos taken there and a relative of mine said I’d love the coastal region. The black sand beach, in that area, sounds amazing as well.
I’ll have a more definite plan as to where I’m going by February, so I’m really looking forward to either one. And of course I’ll be planning short excursions to Yosemite to take more photos in areas I haven’t hiked before.
In the meantime, I tested out my new lens somewhere near Rincon Beach on January 2nd. While I wasn’t too thrilled with the sunset shots that evening (the sky was kind of bland), I did like a few of the shots of the moon I took that night. Below is one of the photos. The new lens is a Pro lens that had really great reviews and I have to say I haven’t been disappointed with it in any regard. I’ll be testing it more over the next few weeks and will post more photos. The lens will definitely be used quite a bit on my trips to Yosemite and wherever I go in the fall.
Have a great week everyone!
