No Photography in U.S. National Parks for now…

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past week, you will know that the United States Government has shut down for the last week and it looks like it will remain that way for a while. I’m not going to point a finger and blame any specific political party, but I will say that both sides need to come together NOW and get the country back on its feet.

Currently all U.S. National Parks are closed. This means no photographers are taking great landscape shots and probably have to cancel plans of doing any photography in the parks for a while. I personally had planned to go to Yosemite at the end of October, but I’m thinking that I’m going to have to reschedule. I’m not too concerned because where I usually stay in Yosemite is a privately owned cabin. I could still go to the cabin within the park, but I wouldn’t be able to hike or do any photography. I do have the option to reschedule, but hoping that everything blows over by the time I plan go.

When was the last time you visited a National Park? You might be surprised to know there are 401 National Parks throughout the U.S. When the government reopens, try and make plans to visit one near you. It’s great to spend time in the outdoors and support the National Parks. To find your closest National Park, visit www.nps.gov. The website will be down until the government reopens, but do check it out when it is available.
