Photographing Stars

The great thing about my up coming trip to Yosemite is that there are multiple opportunities to take great pictures at different elevations and in different environments. I’ve done sunrise shots in the higher and lower elevations and a few sunset shots around Yosemite Valley. Since I’ll be spending a bulk of my time on my upcoming trip in the higher elevation, this will be the perfect time for me to take picture of the night sky, specifically the stars.

In the current issue of Photograph, a quarterly .pdf downloadable magazine, photographer Dave Morrow’s work is prominently displayed. His photographs of stars and star trails are absolutely amazing. His website has a section devoted to educating people on how to take photographs of star. I’ll be at an elevation of about 10,000 ft. on my upcoming trip, so I can’t wait to give his tutorial a try. Dave also conducts workshops on photographing stars that fill up very quickly.
