Photojournalism

There are two photojournalists I’d like to bring to light today, mostly because of the extreme dangers photojournalists face on a day to day basis across the world.

The first is someone we lost over the weekend. His name is Ruben Espinosa. Mr. Espinosa was a photojournalist for a number of news agencies in Mexico and had recently moved from his home city of Veracruz to Mexico City due to the rise in threats against photojournalists in his country. Mr. Espinosa was found shot to death in a Mexico City apartment on Friday along with four other people. My condolences to his family and the families of the other victims at this difficult time.

The second is a woman who recently gave a great lecture at the Annenberg Space for Photography. Her name is Nicole Tung. This is a young woman who really showed a lot of courage by covering the war in Libya in 2011 with absolutely no photojournalistic experience in a war zone. To find out more about Nicole and to see her amazing photos, please visit her website by clicking on the following link:

Have a great week everyone!
