I’ve decided to go back up to Lassen Volcanic National Park in the fall. I do have reservations for Yosemite, but a few days before that trip, I’m going to make the trek back to Lassen.
A couple of things I was unable to do on my first trip to Lassen were the Bumpass Hell and Kings Creek Falls trails. Both were completely covered in snow when I was there, so those had to be missed. Hopefully there won’t be any snow in the forecast when I go up in October.
The thing that most attracted me to Lassen was the diversity in the landscape. One minute you’re near boiling volcanic mud pots and ten minutes later you could be taking in a huge panoramic vista of snow covered peaks. There really is a lot to take in for such a small park, but it’s definitely worth the trip.
Below are two more pictures I took during my first trip. The first is a volcanic mud pot at the Sulphur Works. I took some video of it as well and plan to add it to my website when I get the opportunity. You’ll then be able to see how amazing this area really is.
The second photo is of an area next to the Bumpass Hell trail head. I posted a color and black & white version of the photo. I was kind of inspired to do so since this months issue of Outdoor Photographer magazine was a special black & white issue.
Have a great week everyone!
