Second Day At Glacier National Park

My second day in Glacier National Park was pretty amazing.

I woke up early and hiked around Saint Mary Falls and Virginia Falls. Below is an image of the cascades of Virginia Creek and an image of Saint Mary Falls. Always nice to return to this area for a quiet hike in the park.

Next I drove the Going To The Sun Road through to the west end of the park. I didn’t really have a chance to stop along the road this day because it was so crowded and all the parking was pretty much taken at every single turnout. It was kind of annoying, but since I was going to be in the park for a few more days beyond this specific day, I didn’t worry about it. Not to mention a fire outside of the park on the west end was causing some haze, so photos weren’t really an option this day along the road. Rain was coming the next day, so clear skies were on their way.

After I reached the west end of the park and had a small lunch, I reversed course and headed back to the east end of the park. I was lucky enough to get a parking spot at Logan Pass on the way back, so I decided to stretch my legs and hike part of the Highline Trail. Then I headed over to the Many Glaciers area where I would be spending the next couple of nights.

Before having dinner that evening, I walked over to the parking area for the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn. A ton of people were in the parking lot looking at a hillside behind the inn. Someone spotted a grizzly up on the hill…which meant I got to use my new lens to check out the bear! Sure enough, there was the bear. Below are a few photos of the bear. The first is of the hillside, where you can see the bear in the center of the photo. The next two images are zoomed in photos of the bear. Let’s just say I was happy that night. 🙂

Have a great week everyone!
