Testing A New Super Telephoto Lens

I decided to go out to Ventura Harbor this morning and test out a new super telephoto lens I recently purchased. I plan on using it when in Yellowstone to get up close to the animals.

The lens has a 200mm to 800mm reach and can extend further to 400mm to 1600mm when using a 2x teleconverter. The fastest aperture on the lens is F5, which isn’t too bad. Shooting in low light will be a little bit of a challenge.

Below is an image of one of the surfers that was taking advantage of an early morning ride on a wave. The image is cropped a little because I was really far across the harbor from him. So, with that said, am I happy with the lens? Yeah, definitely. I’m going to keep working with it until my trip in September so I can take images quickly. I will most likely be much closer to the animals in Yellowstone than I was to the surfer, so the lens seems like a perfect purchase.

Have a great week everyone!
