In some ways I can relate. I was out doing some landscape photography one fall morning at Convict Lake, up in the Eastern Sierra, and was preparing to use a square graduated neutral density filter. I had the filter and filter holder ready to go…but then realized I left the ring to attach the filter holder to the camera lens at home! It really makes your stomach churn when something like that happens. Luckily I was able to improvise a little and get some shots holding the filter with my bare hands.

I’m getting ready to go up to Mammoth and Yosemite in the next couple of weeks. Tioga Pass is scheduled to open for the season tomorrow…but I see that there’s snow in the forecast! Will be interesting to see what they end up doing…
